In January 2013 my good friend and tattooer Von Maze from Germany got the brilliant idea that I should tattoo him at a session where he was tattooing me. I told him that I had never even held a machine in my hand. But he insisted and told me what to do along the way, and it turned out not bad at all. Little did I know how that would be the beginning of something new.
Tattooing from Belair Tattoo in Copenhagen
Back in Denmark I got in touch with my friend Frank Rosenkilde life time tattooer and owner of Belair Tattoo in Copenhagen. I know Frank from the US Car scene, and we had previously talked about me give tattooing a shot to see if it was for me. People always told me I should tattoo, and I was always fascinated by the imagery. But still I was hesitant. Not being sure it was what I wanted to do. But after tattooing Von Maze I knew I wanted to tattoo more, and work out a way to learn it properly. So Frank agreed to let me come and hang around in his shop; help out where I could, and watch the guys over the shoulder.
It didn’t take long before I got used to the friendly atmosphere at Belair Tattoo. The guys are great, and have a very no-nonsense approach to tattooing. It is a craft that must be learned like any other craft. Practice and more practice is the key. After some months of watching how the guys work. I started to tattoo on friends who where eager to collect my first work. Since then it have slowly been picking up, and I’ve had the chance to tattoo at Santa Sangre Tattoo in Cologne, and at Crazy Greg’s in Heidelberg. With more foreign guest spots in the planning phase.
Tattoo work published for the first time.
This is the first time I publish some of my initial tattoo work. I have no fancy ideas about where I am. I am new to tattooing with lots to learn and full of respect for the trade. Tattooing have quickly become one of my greatest passions. I want to dedicate as much time as possible to tattooing and drawing. Luckily I’m blessed with many good friends that are very talented tattooers. So I have plenty of inspiration and guidance. Which I am extremely grateful for.

It is finally here, and the warehouse are stocked with the brand spanking new special first edition Flake & Flames DVD. You can get your greasy hands on it at www.buyflakeandflames.com.
This is what I’ve been spending most of my time on the last 2.5 years. Very happy that it is finished. Not to mention getting great reviews. One guy said “Not having the Flake & Flames DVD, is the same as not having American Graffiti”. American Graffiti is one of the most legendary cult films within the Kustom Kulture scene. So that’s one of the biggest compliments we can get.
Thanks for all your support. Hope you enjoy the film. Here is the official trailer.
David A. Smith is a traditional sign-writer/designer specialising in high-quality ornamental hand-crafted reverse glass signs and decorative silvered and gilded mirrors. David recently produced a wonderful turn-of-the-century, trade-card styled album cover for popular American singer/songwriter John Mayer.
This film captures the ‘Behind The Scenes’ creation of the ‘Born & Raised’ and ‘Queen of California’ artwork, as well as 2 unique reverse glass panels, hand-crafted in England by David A. Smith.

Most of my time is focused on Flake & Flames these days. But sometimes in between, there’s time to do something else. Today I had time to write a review of the film 6over by Dice Magazine. You can check it out on my Motorcycle Blog.
Looking very much forward to see this poster in print. I designed the main poster for next years Kustom Kulture Forever (formerly known as Bottrop Kustom Kulture). Last year was the tenth anniversary for the show. Easily the best Kustom Kulture Show in Europe. Starting on a new decade, and moving to a new location. 2013 will surely be something special.
The last couple of years I got more interested in custom bicycles. Compared to cars and motorcycles it’s relatively easy to build a custom bicycle. It’s cheaper, and faster to get something cool out. If you think the process of … Continue reading →
